The Free Style Writing Challenge

Assalamu’alaikum everyone!

May Allah bless you all!

As a learner in writing, I have to keep my learning activity. Recently, I got message from my lovely sister Hyba Zidan (Impeccable’mua) that she invited me and others to take part in Free Style Writing challenge. It was from her idea. I thought it’s nice idea to improve my writing. Jazakillah khoir sister for the invitation. 🙂

Okay, here are the rules:

1. Open an MS Word document
2. Set a stop watch or your mobile to 5 minutes or 10 minutes whichever challenge you think you can beat.
3. You topic is at the foot of this post BUT DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH A TIMER.
4. Fill the word doc with as much words as you want. once you began writing do not stop even to turn.
5. Do not cheat by going back and correcting spellings and grammar with spell check in MS WORD (it is only meant for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write the right spelling and stick to grammar rules)
6. You may or may not pay attention to punctuation and capitals. However if you do, it would be best.
7. At the end of your post write down ‘No. Of words =_____’ so that we would have an idea of how much you can write within the time frame.
8. Do not forget to copy paste the entire passage on your blog post with a new Topic for your nominees and copy paste these rules with your nominations (at least 5 bloggers).

Topic : Watching TV

Watching TV isn’t my favorite activity. I love blogging more than it. That’s why I’ll try to avoid this magic box from my family. After moving to new village, we don’t watch it at all, because we’re still completing our new house. My family including my son doesn’t complain it . He can understand the negative effect from TV. Last time when we still stay in our first house, he usually watch his favorite program like movies for children. I always advise him do not watch bad program from TV like adult program, gossip, and bad news from TV. I do know about the negative effect from this magic box. I try to motivate him to select other positive activity like reading, writing, drawing and playing. Alhamdulillah,, he can do his activities enjoyably. I thingk this is the time for us to avoid this box. I hope my family can choose and enjoy their positive activities. So, watching TV is not our favorite program r or it isn’t our special activity. We don’t care about TV.

Day Nineteen: Don’t Stop the Rockin’

Today is free writing day. No self-editing, no trash-talking, and no second guessing, just go.

I will try it!

Never Late to Learn! It is my motto in learning. I am an old lady! Indeed! But, I want to learn and to improve my writing. To be honest, I loved writing since I was a child. I got my first lesson about writing from my great father. He had good skill in handwriting, so he taught me about it first. The second step, he gave me many books, and I couldn’t read those books. I only saw its pictures within the books. Since that time, I fell in love in reading and drawing. Alhamdulillah, I got all from my Dad. He was amazing Dad for me!

The next step, I got my handwriting skill from my teacher in the first grade. I write, write and write every day. By reading and writing, I could get much knowledge. I loved reading and writing a lot. I used Bahasa Indonesia in the first time. Someone who has suggested me to learn English was my mother. She isn’t an English teacher. She gave me a simple English book. It was about vocabularies and very simple grammar. My Mom advised me to memorize English words 5 words each day. Since that, I loved English too. But, I admit, my English isn’t good enough.

I used English only at my schools, I had never used it at home. I didn’t have friends to practice it. Luckily, I could practice my English and my Arabic effectively in Islamic Boarding School. I had many friends there. The important thing we practiced both every day.  We didn’t use grammar in our speaking. I brought a dictionary pocket to everywhere. Just practice in speaking.

After finished my study there, I didn’t practice them for 12 years. I had forgotten a lot both English and Arabic. Alhamdulillah, I can learn and practice my English and my writing skill in my virtual home WordPress. It’s a good chance for me to improve all. I have to say, I get many advantages by doing blogging and following writing 101. I can feel it! I have gotten amazing English teachers, beautiful friendship, and wonderful suggestions from fellow bloggers. Masha’Allah, It was amazing! I don’t have any reasons to leave WordPress and my writing activity. I’d love to say, keep blogging and happy writing!

Many thanks to everyone who has taught me here! You’re beautiful! I love You all! ❤

Day Three: Commit to a Writing Practice

Today’s Prompt: Write about the three most important songs in your life — what do they mean to you?
Nailing Brahms’ Hungarian Dance Number 5 on your alto sax. Making perfect pulled pork tacos. Drawing what you see. Or, writing a novel. Each requires that you make practice a habit.
Today, try free writing. To begin, empty your mind onto the page. Don’t censor yourself; don’t think. Just let go. Let the emotions or memories connected to your three songs carry you.

Today’s twist: You’ll commit to a writing practice. The frequency and the amount of time you choose to spend today — and moving forward — are up to you, but we recommend a minimum of fifteen uninterrupted minutes per day.
The basic unit of writing practice is the timed exercise.

I really love with “Today’s Prompt and it’s Twist.” I love to write about songs. Well, my favorite music is Islamic Nasheed. “Nasheed” is Arabic word, it means “Song.” I’m a Nasheed lover. I usually listen it while working with my PC. I’m writing this challenge and listening my favorite nasheed now.
Okay, now I’ll write the tree most important songs in my life:

1. Allahu (Heart Touching, The Merciful Servant)

I love this nasheed. It’s really beautiful! Indeed! This song was written in 8 languages, simply amazing. I, myself only know English and Arabic, just a little.
It tells about Our Creator, Allah who has created this universe beautifully. He has given us mercies and blessing. We are asked to worship Him alone. This song (nasheed) has beautiful message for Muslims. We should pray to Allah, to get His guidance. It’s heart touching! Please watched it, I added it here!

2. Rasulullah (Love our Prophet Muhammad PBUH)

This is the other beautiful song! It tells about Allah, His messenger and Islam. It has a similar message with the first song. It also mentions how to pray Allah, to love Rasulullah and to live base on Islam precept. Islam has beautiful view about human. There is no Racism in Islam. There is no difference between black, white and other colors. All of them are same. Allah doesn’t see our color skin, our status, our wealth, but Allah only sees our Taqwa (our good deeds). Only that!
Do you want to know this song? Please watch it here!

3. Your Happiness is My Happiness  (Arabic Nasheed)

It tells about the definition of “Happiness.” By listening and watching this song, for me I got many advantages. I can learn Arabic and English, and remember about Islam precept. Many people feel sad and face the hardship in their lives, but they don’t know how to face it. Islam has told about the solution. Just pray to Allah a lot. Ask His guidance. Happiness and sadness are the tests for us. There are many verses in Qur’an those explain about happiness. What is the true happiness? What is the true sadness?

I’d love to say, “your happiness is my happiness.”

Enjoy the nasheed!
