When I recited Qur’an surah Al-Ma’aarij, I found the verse that explains about patience. It’s verse 5 in surah Al-Ma’aarij. And I’ve ever read there are so many verses talk and order us to be patient people.
The translation of surah Al-Ma’aarij verse 5, “So be patient with gracious patience.”
For me, “Patient” is something easy to say, but it’s hard to do. After fasting in last Ramadhan, I try to control myself to be patient in facing the hardships in this life. I hope I can follow this guidance. Insha’Allah.
The ideas, sometimes come easily and sometimes hard to get. I’ve ever gotten the ideas in my dreams, in the bathroom, 😀 even from the mistakes of my drawing, he…he.
And how about you, my friends? I’m sure you catch the ideas easily, right?!
I have ways to keep them. I usually write the big point of those ideas before I write them completely, or I make simple sketch before I draw them. Thus, I don’t loss my ideas.
Today I’ll write/ share the steps of making hand lettering as I said in my previous post. The following steps were taken base on my experience only. I don’t read any tutorials, just doing/practicing by viewing its examples and I’m trying not to duplicate those examples. I want to keep the authenticity of my hand lettering.
If you are interested, you can read the steps below!
The first step, I made some soft lines to make me easy in drawing the letters and shapes. I chose to draw a bottle and ribbon.
Then I chose the words and wrote them on the ribbon. Here, I chose surah Al-Qolam verse: 1 for this pic. The reasons, because I took the word Qolam from this verse as my new blog name. It’s Arabic word means “Pen.” And “Qolamii” = My Pen in English. I’ve ever written that I don’t have power/ authority but I only have pen. I’ll make my pen sharper than swords. 🙂 Here I used pencil first before using pen in the next step.
The third, I thickened the pic by using pen. I used snowman drawing pen 0.1 and 0.6. I also include this verse in Arabic, but I only wrote by small Arabic letters.
The last step is coloring and deleting some lines and other useless parts in that image. I used red, blue and green for coloring. I drew a bottle. Bottle is like my papers and my images are like the water. Will I make this bottle clean or dirty? Of course I’ll make it clean and benefit water for me especially and for others. I hope so.
Those’re my steps in drawing hand lettering. I must say I’m not an expert, so I need those steps. Actually I only need time less than one hour to make it. But my time isn’t only for blogging, I have other duties anyhow I’m in holidays. 😀
PS. Sorry, the pics aren’t good because the quality of my camera in my phone isn’t good too. LOL! One day I must change it!
Before I share my images (about hand lettering), I wanted to say “Thank you very much” for your supports. Your visits, comments and suggestions are great gifts for me. 🙂
I feel that I grow everyday in my new field. Because I do love it!
Okay, here they are! Hope you like them!
“Active, Creative.”
I’m trying to be active and creative. (Like a young girl who learns drawing :D) I get more FUN here!
“……My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do the righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants.” An-Naml: 19
I thought that I must put the du’a (prayer of Prophet Solomon) above before I post something here. Every good things what I have gotten now are really from Allah, and I must use them for something good too.
Now, I’ll share my images as usual. I wrote the quote about hand lettering from Kate Moross. And I completely agree with her thought.
Kate Moross.
Kate Moross said, “No matter how digital our lives become, hand rendered type reminds us of our humanity.”
Before you correct the written in that image, I’ll correct first, “becomes” it should be “become” the word “remind” should be followed by “s” and “Morross” –> “Moross.” 😀
Alhamdulillah, I get some ideas in my head easily when I started to learn “Hand lettering.” I really feel enjoy when I do it, anyhow I get big problem now, but I put it far away. 🙂
Okay here are my images for this Sunday! All talk about myself.
I’m not PERFECT!
For this time, I’ll let my images to talk by themselves.
And after Hand Lettering (10) I’ll post a special edition about how I make Hand Lettering step by step, insha’Allah. 🙂
Enjoy your days, my friends! ❤
*Since Hand Lettering (7) I use drawing pens 0.1, 0.6, and for coloring I use Snowman OPM permanent Green, Blue and Red. Snowman is cheaper than Micron, yeah it’s okay for me to choose Snowman as my tools because Micron is hard to find in some bookstores.
I’ve been busy this week. How about you, my friends? 🙂
I won’t talk more than 500 words, he..he, just share my images.
“Ramadhan in Campus” is a special program at my school where I teach it.
Ramadhan in Campus or we called in Indonesia as “Sanlat or Pesantren Kilat.” Pesantren means Islamic Boarding School, and Kilat means flash or lightning. So, Sanlat is a special program where the students learn about Islamic knowledge in short time. It’s only 5 days from 20-24 of June. This Friday, this program will be closed. After that, the holidays will continue till the middle of next July.
I love art, but hey I’m not an artist. I’m interested in Painting, calligraphy, graffiti, and hand lettering art design. I’d love to learn more about those arts. I do it for refreshing and mastering my hands skill, and not for getting dollars, LOL!
I enjoyed every process of those activities, and I’d say coloring using pens, markers, and paints are more interesting than using paint applications in PC or smartphone.
The main reason why I love art, because I always get more fresh and find happiness there. My brain, my mind become fresh.
And how about you, guys!
Art Lover. (I’m trying to insert my pics into my post, so I can improve my hand skill here)
