This morning there was a total solar eclipse, and in Indonesia people could see it in several provinces include West Java where I live. Alhamdulillah, we could perform prayer (salatul-kusuf) during that time in our masjid (Mosque) at 06.20 am.
Here in this chance, I’ll share about solar and lunar eclipse base on Qur’an and hadith. I also took from some references beside from khutbah (sermon) in solatul-kusuf that I received from Imam.
Muslims recognize that everything in the heavens and on earth is created by the Lord of the universe, Allah Almighty. Qur’an as our guidance has asked us to look around them, observe the beauties of the natural world, as signs of Allah’s majesty.
In surah Ar-Rahman (The Beneficent) verse 33:
“O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority (from Allah).”

“Allah is He, who created the sun, the moon, and the stars — (all) governed by laws under His commandment.” Qur’an 7:54

“It is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon. All (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its orbit.” Qur’an 21:33

“The sun and the moon follow courses exactly computed.” Qur’an 55:05
The Prophet’s Tradition (peace be upon him)
After prayed (salatul-kusuf) our imam (the leader of prayer) explained about solar eclipse. He told, the animist believed that solar eclipse was caused by the giant who ate the sun. We laughed hearing that. How could like that? I asked my son, “Do you believe that story?” He smiled at me and shook his head. “That’s only a tale! We have guidance (Qur’an) and we are asked to perform prayer during that time.

Imam continued his khutbah (sermon), during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), there was a solar eclipse on the day that his son Ibrahim died.

Some superstitious people said that the sun eclipsed because of the young child’s death and the Prophet’s sadness on that day. The Prophet corrected their understanding:
And the following are what hadith says about solar or lunar eclipses.

Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shu’ba: On the day of Ibrahim’s death, the sun eclipsed and the people said that the eclipse was due to the death of Ibrahim (the son of the Prophet). Allah’s Apostle said, “The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of someone’s death or life. So when you see them, invoke Allah and pray till the eclipse is clear.”

Reasons why Muslims should perform the prayer during an eclipse
An eclipse is a sign of the majesty and power of Allah.
Narrated Abu Masud: The Prophet said, “The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death of someone from the people but they are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. When you see them, stand up and pray.”

An eclipse is a reminder of the Day of Judgment.
Narrated Abu Musa: The sun eclipsed and the Prophet got up, being afraid that it might be the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment). He went to the Mosque and offered a prayer with the longest Qiyam, bowing and prostration that I had ever seen him doing. Then he said, “These signs which Allah sends do not occur because of the life or death of somebody, but Allah makes His worshipers afraid by them. So when you see anything thereof, proceed to remember Allah, invoke Him and ask for His forgiveness.”

How the Prayer is Performed
• The eclipse prayer is offered in congregation.
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr: When the sun eclipsed in the life-time of Allah’s Apostle an announcement was made that a prayer was to be offered in congregation.

• The eclipse prayer is two rakats (cycles of prayer).
Narrated Abu Bakr: In the life-time of the Prophet the sun eclipsed and then he offered a two Rakat prayer.
• Each rakat of the eclipse prayer has two bowings and two prostrations (for a total of four).
Narrated Aisha: The Prophet led us and performed four bowings in two Rakat during the solar eclipse, and the first Raka was longer.
Narrated ‘Aisha: In the life-time of Allah’s Apostle, the sun eclipsed, so he led the people in prayer, and stood up and performed a long Qiyam, then bowed for a long while. He stood up again and performed a long Qiyam but this time the period of standing was shorter than the first. He bowed again for a long time but shorter than the first one, then he prostrated and prolonged the prostration. He did the same in the second Raka as he did in the first and then finished the prayer; by then the sun (eclipse) had cleared. He delivered the Khutba (sermon) and after praising and glorifying Allah he said, “The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse on the death or life of anyone. So when you see the eclipse, remember Allah and say Takbir, pray and give Sadaqa (charity).”

Before performing prayer, Imam also guided us how to perform this prayer, because it’s different with prayers those we usually do in each day. He explained like hadith above.

I also guided my son about it. It was the first time he followed and prayed salatul-kusuf. While for me, it was the second time during my life. Long time ago, I did it when I was child and my father as Imam. But, in that time was a lunar eclipse and we prayed after Isya prayer.

Alhamdulillah, Muslims continue the tradition of praying during an eclipse, as a reminder that Allah has power over all things, in the heavens and on earth.

May Allah forgive us and guide us to His right path, the path of those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor!
Ameen!

Why I am Tested With The Hardships?

Perhaps we often hear such question above or maybe we asked ourselves with that question when we faced many hardships in our lives. Yes or No, it’s only you and Your Lord who know yourselves.
I found the answers for that from a book which explained about “Patience and how to face our life better.” All the answers came from Qur’an.

1. Why I’m tested with the hardships, poorness and hunger?
Qur’an said in surah al-Ankabut: 2-3
“Do the people think that they will be left to say, “We believe” and they will not be tried?
But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.”

2. Why I failed to get my dreams?
Qur’an answers in surah al-Baqara : 216
“………But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you do not know.”

3. It’s too hard for me!!
Qur’an said in surah Al-Baqara : 286
“Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. …………”

4. Hopeless at facing the difficulties.
Qur’an surat Al-Imran : 139
So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.

5. How to face these hardships?
We can see surah Al-Baqara : 45
“And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah ].”

6. What will I get from these hardships?
Qur’an answers with surah At-Taubah: 111
“Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah , so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah ? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.”

7. To whom I should ask the help?
Again in surah At-Taubah: 129, Qur’an has given the solution.
But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, “Sufficient for me is Allah ; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.”

8. I can’t solve my problems, I can’t pass it!!!
Qur’an answers in surah Yusuf: 87
“O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair not of relief from Allah . Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people.”

Actually, there’re so many verses in Qur’an showed about the solutions of life, not only it but everything.

“The reminders for me first before others.”

Our Deeds

We’ll see our deeds
In the hereafter
Indeed!

“So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it.(7) And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.” (8) [Az-Zalzalah :7-8]

We’re created by Allah
to do the best in deed
And He will see our deeds
Only our deeds!
He won’t see others in ourselves
What must we do?
Do the best in this life
as we can!
Allah will see our deeds,
Indeed!

“[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.” Al Mulk:2

A reminder for myself first before others.

The Richest Person In The World

Assalamu’alaikum my lovely friends!

May Allah bless you all! ❤

As I checked emails in my mailbox, I found this awesome email from Merciful Servant Channel. And I thought, it was good to share in my blog. It was about “The Richest Person In The World.”

Most of Muslims in this world have known about it. The answer is ……….

5. Amansio Ortega, Spain [$ 64.5 billion]

4. Warren Buffett, USA [$ 72.7 billion]

3. Carlos Slim Helu, Mexico [ $ 77.1 billion]

2. Bill Gates, USA [$ 79.2 billion]

1.The man who always prays two rakaah before fajr.

“The Two (sunnah) rakaah of fajr are better than the world and whatever it contains.” [Prophet Muhammad SAW]

As Moslem, I have no doubt about it. My life isn’t only in this world, but also in hereafter. Yes, I need money to recover my life, but finding money isn’t my main purpose.

Islam has guided us how to find money with good way, and use it also in good way, with good intention.

I’ll put a few verses here,

“Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you. (1) Until you visit the graveyards.(2) No! you are going to know.(3) Then no! You are going to know.(4) No! if you only knew with knowledge of certainty….(5) You will surely see the Hell fire.(6) Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.(7) Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.”(8) [At-Takathur 1-8]

May Allah gives us ease to answer about pleasure in that Day. Ameen!

FORBID WHAT IS WRONG, NO NEGOTIATION FOR THAT!

Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
May Allah bless you all, my dear friends. Ameen!
A week ago, a friend (a fellow teacher) told me about a place which is used for immorality. It’s a very simple inn, it’s located in our small town Cibadak, in Sukabumi regency West Java where we live and we work.

It was taken from behind.
It was taken from behind.

Aviary Photo_130890315816624950
He told everything about that inn. The owner of that place has made it as brothel. Astaghfirullah! I was so sad when I heard the women who went there wear hijab, some of them were students.
How could like that? That brothel is so close to our big Masjid and the schools. My son and I often pass that place. We saw some men in front of it. We didn’t see it windows. Its place is so dirty. It’s an old place.
I couldn’t believe that in my religious place was found a brothel. When I heard it and many people have known about that inn, I believe in his story now. He helped me to take the picture of that place anyhow only two pictures. He said, it was so difficult to take the picture, because that place becomes a war zone.
The people who live around the brothel, who don’t support the prostitution have protested to the owner to close his inn and to stop the activities there. But, he didn’t accept what people want. He and his people gave some money to the people who live around and asked them to support them (the owner and his people) to let them to manage and continue their activities. They said, we need money to live, to eat and to continue our lives.
They forgot that they should find money with good way (halalan thoyibah). Many of them are Muslims, because they have ever said to our ulama they’ll go to Mecca for Umrah. Astagfirullah!
“O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth (that is) lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.” [Al-Baqara: 168]
“He (Satan) only order you to evil and immorality and to say about Allah what you do not know.” [Al-Baqara: 169]

I post about it here, not for showing their wrong, but the most important from it is to say that we will never support the immorality being grown in our place and we have to forbid it, as Allah has said in Qur’an. Here I’ll take the verse in surah Luqman, when he advised his son, “O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, (all) that is of the matters (requiring) determination.” [Luqman: 17]
The last news, I heard our ulama Mr. Mamad Abdulqohhar (the son of big ulama KH. Dadun Abdulqohhar, who had passed away in 2007) has visited that inn and asked to its owner to close his place and so did the leaders in our town.
What can I do? Writing about it, making and asking duas (prayers) from you and the people to support our struggle to close that place, because the prostitution is a bad thing and it will give negative influence to our young generation, and we live in Muslim community actually.

May Allah protect us and guide us to His right path and strengthen our faiths.
May Allah help us to help this religion (Islam)! Ameen Allahumma Ameen.

You Called Them To Return To You

Labbaik Allahumma labbaik
Labbaika laa syariika laka labbaik
Innal hamda wanni’mata
Laka wal mulk laa syariika lak

You called them
They came to You
to worship You
to praise You
to follow the sunnah of Your Prophet Abraham

You called them
They came to You
to clean their souls
to increase their faith
to be Your servants

You called them
They came to You
By bringing a great hope
Become great Muslims
After performing hajj

You called them
They came to You
By leaving their nationalities
Their wealth
Their families
They’re Your slaves

You called them
to return to You
And they came to You
Some of them will never back
to their homelands
Some of them will never meet
their families ever
Some of them will never make nice gathering anymore
Because You’ve called them
and You’ve loved them!

We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return

O, Allah! Accept their faith and all their good deeds! Put their souls in Your great place!
Ameen Allahumma Ameen….

When The Old Masjid Called Little Mujahid

I’m old masjid,
I was built long… long time ago
I feel alone,
Here,
People who always come
to me,
only the old people.

WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN?
The young generation of this Ummah!
O, little Mujahids!
Here is the place to learn Islam!
Here is the place to pray to your Creator!
Where are you, the youths of Islam?
Don’t you feel proud become Muslims?
Don’t you feel love to your Masjids?
Here,
I’m waiting you!
Please come to your masjid!
Love me!
I’ll love you!
And I’ll say to my Lord,
In hereafter
You’re one of my loyal friends!
I love you forever!
Allah will love you too!
Don’t you believe in Him?!

Abu Hurairah narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: “There are seven whom Allah will shade in His shade on the Day when there is no shade except His shade:
1. a just ruler;
2. a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah the Mighty and Majesty;
3. a man whose heart is attached to the masjid;
4. two men who love each other for Allah’s sake, meeting for that and parting upon that; (I explain about it, “Love” here means not to love man physically, but they love each other to worship Allah);
5. a man who is called by a woman of beauty and position (for illegal intercourse), but he says: “I fear Allah,”
6. a man who gives in charity and hides it, such that his left hand doesn’t know what his right hand gives in charity;
7. and a man who remembered Allah in private and so his eyes shed tears.”

Live “Not” For Satan!

Yesterday, as we went to school, I read the words the worst words that I have ever read along my life, “LIVE FOR SATAN.” I found it on the T-shirt of an old man. He wore his T-shirt calmly and didn’t pay attention to the words. But, on the title above I put “Not” to against the words.

When I read those words or maybe the motto of life, I thought that man doesn’t understand the meaning of the words. I guessed he’s Moslem.
It was sad, I found the fact many Moslems in my community especially the old people don’t understand at all about English. Poor people.

“LIVE FOR SATAN” astaghfirullah, it’s a part of big shirik for sure. As Moslems, we live in this world for Allah only. We came from Allah, we live for Allah and we’ll be returned to Allah. Let’s correct those words, “LIVE FOR ALLAH!”

“Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, including toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah.” Al-An’am:79

May Allah strengthen our faith, ameen!
