Racism is still a huge issue today.

I often ask to myself,  “why do some of human hate the other nations?”

“Why do some people insult the other ethnics?”

Why……..?

Why……..?

I searched, then searched in Qur’an and hadith about Racism.

Is there Racism in Islam?

Rasulullah has said in his hadith, “An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, and a white man has no superiority over a black man, nor a black man over a white man- except by piety and good actions.”

My  friends in Islam!

I’m sure, you have known about Sayyidina Hazraat Bilal. But, in my opinion it’s good if I write about him a little here.

“Sayyidina Hazrat Bilal was an Abyssinian slave belonging to a Jew called Umayya Bin Khalf, who was a bitter enemy of Islam. He embraced Islam in its early days, during times when the non-believers would continuously harass the Muslims and never allow them a moment of peace. Hazrat Bilal’s love for Allah and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will always remain a perfect example of devotion and total submission.

Ahad, Ahad- there is only one Allah.

In the sweltering heat under the Arabian skies, Hazrat Bilal’s love for Allah shone brighter than the sun itself. So strong was it that he could not conceal it despite the punishment and torture afflicted on him by his cruel master.

There were times when a large boulder would be place upon his chest as he lay on the scorching sand, his ribs been  crushed under the weight. Yet  the words “Ahad! Ahad! (There is only one Allah!)” were constantly repeated by Hazrat Bilal, so strong was his faith and love.

His Jewish master would insult him and threaten him to denounce Islam, beat him, whip him and humiliate him on the streets of Makkah, but nothing was able to shake Hazrat Bilal’s heart. He put his life and soul into the Hands of Allah, and there it would forever remain.

Subhanallah, how great the faith of Hazrat Bilal was!

He was famous as Muazzin of Rasulullah. Rasulullah has said, “Bilal is one of my great sahabas who will enter a paradise in the early time than the others.” Subhanallah!

Within Islam, every human are same, one thing that makes different is Taqwa. A slave will becomes a great man, if he has great faith, good deeds, and noble character. When Allah loves His servant, what should we call this man? He really deserve called as a righteous man or great Muslim. Hazrat Billal was one of great Muslims who received guaranteed Jannah (Paradise) from his Lord Allah The Most Merciful. Subhanallah!

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Allah does not look at your figures, nor at you attire but He looks at your hearts and accomplishments.” (Sahih Muslim)

Then in Surah Al-Hujurat: 11, we will find Islam has taught about equality of human.

“O  you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one’s] faith. And whoever does not repent – then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

How beautiful Islam is!

We have no doubt about this deen.

If, we find among Muslims racism, the wrong is not Islam, but the Muslims. Islam is perfect, Muslim not. We have to learn Islam by reading Qur’an, hadith and learn to great Ulama. So we’ll find the beautiful of Islam, the amazing of its guidance. Indeed!

May Allah strengthen our iman forever and guide us to His right way always, ameen!

*I’m only a sinner, and I’m trying to be better. We learn together to make our lives better.

Jazakumullah khoir for visiting and reading!

  1. Great post, sister. Unfortunately most Muslim Ummah suffers from this sickness, despite the clear teachings of Islam and our beloved Prophet PBUH. I have lived in Middle east as well as many male relatives are working there, you would be surprised at the negative and inhumane treatment is given to brown colored Muslims from SOUTH ASIA. I remember my Arab colleagues once openly refused to eat on a table saying they weren’t sitting with second class Muslim wanna bes from Pakistan and India…
Ummah has many sicknesses and this is one of them that we need to correct.

    1. Those people are examples of arrogant men. They felt as the best ethnic. Last time, I thought if someone speaks n understands Arabic well will know about Islam well. My thought is wrong. We have known about Abu Jahal, Abu Lahab, they were Rasulullah’s uncles. But they refused Islam.
I completely agree with you, dear Sis, this ummah should correct about it.
UNITE AGAINST RACISM! ✊ Thank you for your kind words, Sis!

    1. Exactly! We are ONE UMMAH!
I dunno the right reasons, why the people mock their Muslim brothers.
I think, they are arrogant people. We have correct it, base on our abilities. By writing, speaking and actions.
Jazakillah khoir, Sis for your nice comment!

  2. Mash Allah another great article!!!

The sahabas were really great people Subhanallah. I am amazed at Bilal’s faith.
Today if a muslim has to cope with a problem regarding his/her religion, he tends to leave some aspects of Islam while it is not the right thing to do.

You know I was victim of racism among some muslims. In my country, there are many shops which belong to muslim. Once I entered in one, it was a shop selling bags, the man in the shop ignored meand when a non muslim woman entered the shop, he went to her and greeted her with “Hellooo”.

Allahu Alam. May Allah guide these people.

  3. And then there is reverse racism in many Muslim countries including mine against non Muslims who are treated lesser then animals, they are violated and humiliated on a daily level just because they are not MUSLIMS. The states do nothing against these kinds of violence, because indirectly they support the Wahabi agenda of hatred towards non Muslims and discrimination against those that Allah created but follow a different faith. I am sometimes, appalled at MUSLIM UMMAH and its double standards on most humanitarian issues that QURAN has taught us clearly, but we don;t want to learn and use it.
In my country we also have ethnic Minorities minorities, some of them are in grave dangers because of being persecuted, I also come from one such ethnic minority group. I can tell you that in all my life after reading and understanding ISLAM, I cannot fathom this nonsense being doled out in name of Islam giving our lovely religion a bad image.

    1. Ya Allah! I had no idea about such things happening in this world. I am from African origin, I always wanted to go to arab countries but after reading your omment I don’t dare doing that. By the way I remember on TV I saw a documentary denouning how Arab families use people of different countries like slaves and these people were not paid I was so shocked that day.

Ya Allah protect us from bad people and do not make us become like them.

      1. May Allah protect us all from the evils of this world, you may see my blog to read the stories of Pakistani trafficked women in Arab countries and how they are treated. It is enough to chill me forever…

    2. Astaghfirullah, another bad reality in this Ummah. I often read, and hear about bad stories of Indonesian women who work in Middle East. When they back home, they brought their babies. Some bad Arabian had raped them. Really, those were sad stories. We are shy, when the bad Muslims do racism n bad actions.
That is very true, this wonderful religion has explained us clearly.

  4. wonderful post, indeed Islam has never promoted racism in any shape or form. Its a shame the people of this wonderful faith neglect the beautiful words of the Qur’an and put our own messed up versions first 😦

    1. Thank you, Sis Hajra!
      We should correct it.
“Arrogance,” is a big disease in Muslim community. We have known, many of the prophets were Arabian. May be they are so proud with it. Wallahu A’lam.
