بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

As a mother, sometimes I get troubles in parenting. I thought for long time to find the root of it. Then a few times later, I found the effective way within parenting (I’m not sure it’ll suitable for other parents).

I often discuss with the other mothers about it. A few of them have the same matters with me. My friends told me about that.

“My son only obeys his teachers but he does not obey us. I ever asked his teachers to advise my son purposely. I know that was crazy way, that I asked teacher for it, but I don’t have another way. He always do what his teachers orders.”
“It’s difficult to teach solah to my little girl. She always ask me, “Have you taken pray, Mom?” That made me upset. She doesn’t obey my orders.”

Indeed, I often get these consultations when I taught at Islamic Elementary School. They asked the effective ways in teaching their kids.

I admit, I’m not a good mother, but I’m trying to give good example to my boy as long as I can. Our action is louder than our words. So, in my opinion, this way is so effective in parenting teaching.

I try to avoid these orders;

  • Do this!
  • Do that!
  • Do pray on time!
  • Do read qur’an!
  • Do study your lessons by yourself! and etc.

As I said early, I’m trying to apply this way, and Alhamdulillah I get good results from it. I seldom ask my son to do pray or any activities. He already knows his daily schedule. It was not easy in the first time, I had to repeat the communication with him carefully, because I didn’t want to force him to do anything, but I wanted he does everything with his desire that comes from his heart and his mind.

My boy and I are in progress to practice about discussion. Discuss in a few topics, about choosing good movies, music, foods, and trying to use his times for creative activities.

I do understand the beautiful way for educating my son is by giving good example. I got this way after trial and error. I’m  really sure, you have good way in teaching and educating your kids.

There is a beautiful Arabic proverb:

اَلْقُدْوَةُ اْلحَسَنَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ اْلوَصِيَّةِ

A good example is better than precept.

Note: Dear readers and fellow bloggers,

I don’t have an authority about the ads that sometimes appear on my blog. Thank you very much for your attention! 🙂

  1. So so true. Often we as parents forget that it is not that our children are not listening to us, rather they are watching our every move. Let us be the person we want our children to become.

  2. Sis Fatma, day after day, you’re doing better with your English. I am proud of you mashaAllah :). May Allah always give you the knowledge and strength to continue on this path of learning, amiin. Great post on teaching children. There is indeed a difference between dictating them and being firm while showing love and respect that they will return kindly.

    1. جزاك الله خيرا كثيرا for your kind words, my dear sis! I force myself to master my English, Sis. As I said early, it was not easy to practice it at home, where the community did not use English. I’m a learner forever. I only did a little thing about parenting, I have to pray to Allah a lot, everytime for raising my boy. I hope I can do the best for him. Insha’Allah. Yes with our loves, we raise our kids. A lots of hugs n kisses for our kids. 💞

I’m struggling for that. I hope I can do more for my little boy. Alhamdulillah, Kaka always obey me, he loves me so much. 💗 Therefore I can guide him to know His God, his prophet, and so on. Allah makes easy for me. Subhanallah. I’m sure you’re a great Mom, I strongly believe it. بارك الله فيكم ، امين
