بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Hijab is not a new topic, but it seems to me that telling this story would be nice. Hopefully. Do you believe me Brothers, Sisters? Wearing hijab was not easy for me, anyhow I was born as a muslimah. I needed several years to decide wearing it. Everyone has to work hard for getting Allah’s guidance. Indeed!
Here is my story!
- At Elementary School [1986-1992].
I have known about hijab’s rule since I studied at Elementary School. I began my elementary school in 1986. From the first to the third grade I didn’t wear hijab. In the fourth grade, my teacher asked the female students to wear hijab. He said, that muslimah should wear it.
I wore hijab of necessity. I hated it so much. I couldn’t be free. Guess, what I did then? I wore it only at class, and I opened it when the lesson finished. Aaaand in the fifth and the last grade, I didn’t wear it anymore. “YES, I’M FREE!!”
I wanna laugh if I remember my childhood. How naughty I was!
- At Yunior High School [1992-1995].
Cutting a long story short, I didn’t wear hijab at all. Bad time!
- At Senior High School [1995-1998]
In that time, I thought I have to change my appearance. I decided wearing hijab on the first day of my school. I felt I have to cover my hair and my body up. Alhamdulillah, finally I wore it at school. My friends were so astounding. I got various comments from them, containing positive and negative minds. I didn’t care for negative points. It was my choice. BUT, wait…… I wore it only at school. I did it till the last grade. I did not get hidayah yet. Maybe my effort was not so hard.
- At Islamic Boarding School [ Jami’atul Amien Al-Islamiyah 1998-2002].
After finishing my Senior High School, I continued my study to Jami’atul Amien Al-Islamiyah for about 4 years. I lived there with my friends and my amazing teachers. I got many friends from other regions all over Indonesia. Wonderful relationship! I couldn’t go home easily, because it was so far, so I needed much money and times for home. I only went home twice on a year, for holidays only. It wasn’t problem for me.
From my boarding, I got the importance of hijab. My teachers, always explain us about hijab’s rules. My friends and I wore hijab almost the time. I used to wear hijab since that time. It became my habit.
Alhamdulillah, at least I got this hidayah. Allah has guided me, through my teachers.
Since that time, I have been wearing hijab, thus far. I don’t feel hot again. 😀
Although I stay and work at home, I have to wear it every day. Wearing hijab is my identity as Muslimah, and I’m so proud become Muslimah. Always trying be better as I can, insha’Allah. I’m grateful getting this guidance. Alhamdulillah.
Allah has said about hijab’s rule in surah An-nuur verse 31;
“And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their head covers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons, their sisters’ sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.”
May Allah bless you always!
